Among the personal elements of the insurance contract is the figure of the insured. The insured is the person who owns the interest that is insured in the policy and who is therefore exposed to risk since he will suffer the consequences of years in the event of an eventual loss. The interest can be personal (in the case of life insurance) or material (in the case of car or home insurance). In both cases, the insured is the person who owns the insured interest.
The rights and obligations of the insured include:
Rights of the insured
- Receive the indemnity to which the insurer is obliged to provide, in the event that a beneficiary other than the insured has not been established in the policy.
- Communicate to the insurance company all the circumstances that make the risk less than that stated in the policy.
Obligations of the Insured
- Sign the insurance policy.
- Communicate all circumstances that aggravate the risk
- Report the occurrence of an accident within seven days of its occurrence, and provide all the information you have about the circumstances in which it occurred and its consequences.
- Do everything possible to avoid the accident, or at least try to make its consequences less harmful.
