According to the latest surveys of the Consumer Attitude of the Aviva Institute of Savings and Pensions, it can be deduced that Spain would be among the countries in which people close to retirement are most concerned about not reaching a sufficient level of income at that stage of their lives. According to the indicators, 59% of those who are close to retirement express concern about not being able to maintain an adequate standard of living, this percentage has dropped 7 percentage points since February 2010.
47% of those surveyed in our country consider that they will have to work after retirement age, this percentage even increases by 3 percentage points compared to four years ago. The report also indicates that four out of ten say they are taking the necessary measures to face retirement, the highest percentage in Europe together with the United Kingdom.
Compared to Europe, Spaniards would be above the average when it comes to financial protection against unexpected circumstances such as death, unemployment or serious illness.
