The greater longevity of the Spanish population is affecting the national pension and health systems. Insurers specializing in private health insurance are equally affected, and have a horizon with many variables. The projection of a higher average age of the insured, allows forecasting higher care costs, due to a greater use of consultations, surgical interventions and hospital admissions. Some studies assess that an increase in the average age of 10 years may mean a proportional increase of three times healthcare costs. On the other hand, the percentage of young people with respect to the national population is declining, affecting the expectations of future clients of health insurers.
